The Long Shadow of Fossil Fuel
Long shadows reach out from an abandoned gas station, Two Guns, Arizona, built in 1963, only to burn eight years later, partially sending the location into decline. Two Guns has a fascinating history complete with Apache massacres in death caves, drifters, gila monster bites, calamitous fires, a strange zoo and general misfortune. I lit the structure from several different angles with a handheld ProtoMachines light painting device during the exposure.
